NatHERS 7-Star Energy Reports & Assessments

Welcome to Floyd Energy’s 7-Star Energy Reports & Assessments — your pathway to achieving superior thermal performance, regulatory compliance, and long-term comfort. We specialise in providing detailed modelling, analysis, and certification to ensure your design achieves or exceeds 7-star energy performance under Australasian energy codes.

If performed accurately, a 7 star - energy report will deliver recommendations on how to build a home that saves energy and is more comfortable to occupy.

What Is a 7-Star Energy Report?

A 7-Star Energy Report (also referred to as a 7-Star NatHERS / thermal rating) models your building’s heating, cooling, and overall energy behaviour based on your design, materials, orientation, glazing, insulation, and climate zone.
Since the adoption of the National Construction Code (NCC 2022), new homes in many jurisdictions must now satisfy a minimum 7-star thermal performance—a stricter benchmark than the earlier 6-star requirement.

Our reports quantify:

  • The star rating (0–10 scale)

  • Zone-by-zone thermal loads (heating vs cooling)

  • Whole-of-Home energy budget (for fixed systems, solar credits, etc.)

  • Compliance statements aligned with NCC / state regulation

  • Detailed specification guidance — insulation levels, glass types, shading design, orientation, thermal breaks, etc.

Why 7 Stars Matter — Benefits & Compliance

Regulatory Compliance & Approval

Most states now require a 7-star rating (or higher) for obtaining building permits for new home builds. Without a compliant energy performance report, your project may be refused.
Additionally, your 7-star report will support building surveyors and certifiers in validating compliance under NCC / local energy provisions.

Lower Energy Bills & Increased Comfort

A home designed to 7 stars uses significantly less energy to maintain comfortable temperatures than lower-star designs. You’ll enjoy reduced heating and cooling loads, smaller HVAC systems, and greater resilience during heatwaves or cold snaps.

Future-Proofing & Market Appeal

As energy efficiency standards tighten over time, a 7-star home can remain competitive and adaptable. Buyers and investors increasingly value sustainable, high-performance homes. You’ll also reduce the risk and cost of retrofitting later.

What We Assess in Our 7-Star Reports

Our assessment covers the following:

  • Building orientation, layout, internal zoning

  • Roof, wall, floor construction and thermal properties

  • Glazing area, frame type, coating, shading, and solar gain control

  • Insulation levels, thermal breaks, airtightness

  • Local climate conditions, site shading and wind patterns

  • Fixed systems (heating, cooling, hot water, lighting) when applying Whole-of-Home modelling

  • Solar PV / battery offsets (if applicable) in the energy budget

How Our Process Works

  • Consultation & Plan Submission
Provide your architectural plans, elevations, material specifications, and orientation details.

  • Preliminary Modeling & Optimization
We simulate your design, propose modifications to reach 7 stars cost-effectively, and iterate.

  • Final Assessment & Report Issuance
Once the model meets, or exceeds, 7 stars, we produce your formal energy report/certificate suitable for submission to certifiers.

  • Support & Revisions
We assist with any queries from building surveyors or regulators to ensure acceptance.

Why Choose Floyd Energy for Your 7-Star Assessment?

  • Our assessors hold accredited qualifications and extensive experience in thermal performance modelling.

  • We go beyond software numbers — we consider practical buildability and cost effectiveness.

  • Independent, transparent, and committed to quality: no shortcuts.

  • Fast turnaround, clear communication, and supporting you through compliance reviews.

How to Get Started

  • Submit your design plans via our Energy Rating Request page

  • Or call us to discuss your project and energy performance goals
